12th Global Health Summit- Dec 2018

Council For Healthcare & Pharma is the proud sponsor of the 12th Global Healthcare Summit inaugurated by The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in Mumbai on 28th Dec 2018. More than 500 delegates from around the world attended the event, which was addressed by, among others, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said India and the USA shared complementarities in the pharmaceutical field – in clinical research, drug discovery and manufacture. He urged both countries to work together to address common challenges posed by lifestyle diseases.

Further, supporting CHP`s idea of affordable and quality Healthcare to all, The President mentioned that the goal of ‘Health for All’ must be integral to our programmes and policies and highlighted several initiatives of the Government of India, which are intended to make healthcare in the country more holistic and affordable for all citizens of the country.

The Summit included a CEO`s Forum, a Women’s Forum, Launch of a Free Health Clinic, Seminars on Continuing Medical Education (CME’s) and a Research Contest.
Whilst addressing The CEO Forum, Dr Gurpreet Sandhu-President CHP, shared his Vision of Indian Healthcare and highlighted India`s contribution to Global Health in bringing down costs and in providing skilled manpower to the industry. He further elaborated on the Advantage India theme, showcasing future growth trends in Infrastructure, Medical Equipment, Medical Tourism, Resources & the Pharmaceuticals industry.
Answering questions in regard to affordable and quality healthcare he emphasised the need of knowledge exchange between industry and academia.
He concluded his speech by requesting the attendees to work together to address and minimise issues related to Mental Health, current Global Threat.

D.G. Shah, secretary of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance; Dr Naresh Parikh, president of AAPI; Dr Vinod K Shah, AAPI past president; Dr Raj Bhayani, co-chair, GHS; and, Dr Ravi Jahagirdar, chairman GHS.
At the CEO Forum it was discussed how lower cost and effective medicines with the highest quality continue to make India the world leader in this field. The gathering also discussed ways in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s healthy India initiative, Ayushman Bharat, can be made more effective.
